NAB recommends cancellation of Nawaz Sharif's passport and identity card

In a letter to the Interior Ministry, the NAB has requested that the former PM's travel documents and national identity card be blacklisted.

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recommended cancellation of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's passport and identity card, sources in the Interior Ministry said, adding that the Interior Ministry has received a letter from NAB Rawalpindi. The NAB has written in the letter that the arrest warrants of Nawaz Sharif have been issued by the court. The process of declaring Nawaz Sharif a fugitive has also been started. Nawaz Sharif's travel documents should be canceled.

The NAB said in the letter that Nawaz Sharif's passport and identity card should be blacklisted and that the Interior Ministry should also contact Interpol for Nawaz Sharif's repatriation.

It may be recalled that two days ago, the Islamabad High Court had summoned former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif through an advertisement and said that if the former Prime Minister did not appear within 30 days, he would be declared an advertiser. And a two-member bench comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani heard Nawaz Sharif's appeals related to Azizia and Avonfield references.

The court had ordered the Additional Attorney General to submit the expenses of the advertisement. Justice Amir Farooq had said that the advertisement money should be submitted and then the advertisement would be issued. Nawaz Sharif's advertisements would be issued in various newspapers. After a one-and-a-half hour break in the court regarding the execution of court orders for the arrest of Nawaz Sharif's non-bailable arrest warrant, the case was re-heard. The diary record of the fax was submitted to the court.

The court had asked why the documents you have registered and the documents provided were not available. Director Mubashir Khan replied that the register given to the court was related to the Europe Division. Director Mubashir Khan had also submitted the record of arrest warrants sent from the Foreign Office to the High Commission in London. Was presented before the court.
